Gillian & Stuart, 2013

Gillian & Stuart's wedding was huge fun to shoot; Super stylish and packed with beautiful details and lots of laughter. 

We love a Scottish wedding and this one was particularly stunning.

The ceremony & reception were at the Blythswood Square Hotel in Glasgow, formerly the Scottish Royal Automobile Club. Inside it's a light and airy mix of original features and sumptuous modern design dotted with little mementos of its motoring heritage.

The music is Make It Wit Chu by Queens of the Stone Age and the film was shot entirely on Kodak Super 8 & 16mm film.

Abigail & Jonathan, 2013

We met Abi & Jon at Belle's Vintage Wedding Fair back in 2012. They're a lovely couple and when they mentioned that they were getting married at The Bluebell Railway, we did all we could to persuade them to book us to film it!

I was so excited when they said yes and I think it might just be my favourite wedding venue ever.

Abi looked stunning in her David Fielden dress and John was very dashing in a suit from Brighton based tailors Hugo Morris. It was such a fun, celebratory wedding with some beautiful Art Deco touches.

It was also a lovely opportunity to work alongside Amy & Frank from Wookie Photography, their photos of the day, more about the wedding and further supplier details are in a feature on the fabulous Love My Dress blog here.

This film was shot on a mixture of Kodak & Fuji Super 8 and 16mm film and the soundtrack is The Air That I Breath by The Hollies.

Zena & Ian, 2013

We've been frequent visitors to the South of France for holidays and to attend the Cannes Film Festival. The light is just so beautiful (and so plentiful!) that we've long been longing to shoot some wedding films down there.

So we were mega excited to shoot Zena & Ian's wedding in the Dordogne. It was a scorching hot day in July and as you can see, Chateau La Durantie is just idyllic.





We're so looking forward to heading back to the region for at least one more wedding this season. It's a real treat to be able to hop on a train rather than a plane for the trip!

We shot Zena & Ian's wedding entirely on Kodak Super 8 & 16mm film.

Charlotte & Sean, 2013

We've had an incredible busy few months filming lots of AMAZING weddings and in the midst of it all our blog has become incredibly neglected.

So here's a very sunny little seaside film from May this year.



Sean & Charlotte had their ceremony at the beautiful Forde Abbey in Chard with their reception at the Marine Theatre, right next to the sea in Lyme Regis.

I love their wedding car - a stretched 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air (from Hollywood Limousines in Devon)

The film was shot entirely on Super 8 and 16mm film, mostly Kodak, with just a little bit of Fuji.

Erika & Mark, 2012

At the end of October last year, singer and songwriter Erika Footman & Skunk Anansie drummer Mark Richardson's married at St Martha's On The Hill, Guildford.

St Martha's is a beautiful setting, perched on the top of a wooded hill just outside Guildford, with stunning panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

It was beautifully eclectic wedding, full of original touches, we particularly loved their transport from the church to reception - a 1950s motorcycle and sidecar.

The reception was in a Tipi in their back garden, and as you might expect there was some amazing musical entertainment in the evening - including an impromptu Skunk Anansie set!

Oh My Honey 2013 Bridal Collection

We love Oh My Honey 1950s inspired dresses, so when Louise got in touch to ask us if we'd make a film for her new bridal collection, the answer was an emphatic "YES!"

The shoot came together in a wonderfully fortuitous way. Louise stumbled across the venue whilst out on a walk. It's a 12th century barn (12th, really!!) with a handy stock of salvaged theatre lights lying around - perfect for the atmosphere that we wanted to create.

Antonia McKenzie was the model and with Nicky from Pretty Pout's beautiful hair and make up she looked every inch the 1950s starlet.

It was the first time that I'd used my freshly restored 16mm camera in anger, it's a thing of engineering beauty - clockwork with no electronics of any kind. I used it in tandem with my usual Beaulieu Super 8 camera to give a couple of different textures.

I'm really happy with the results, the 16mm shows off the beautiful details of the dresses in a way that super 8 probably couldn't, but it still has all of the filmic loveliness.

Louise's 2013 Bridal Collection is incredibly gorgeous, they're all hand-made from sumptuous fabrics, they look amazing and move beautifully. 'Rebekah' is my personal fave, see the whole collection for yourself here: www.ohmyhoney.co.uk

The track is by Gabby Young and Other Animals, the flowers were provided by Wookie Flowers and the Petticoats are by Petticoats-a-Plenty.

It's not a wedding blog but…

…upcyclist.co.uk is full of beautiful, original ideas, many of which we think would work amazingly for weddings.

As you might have guessed, it's all about upcycling - the art of taking something out-of-date or redundant and repurposing it as a useful and/or beautiful new thing.

Think bouquets made from the pages of books, old socks converted into light fittings and recliners made from reclaimed sail-cloth - the possibilities are infinite.

We love it; old objects and materials come with their history etched in every mark on their weathered surfaces. upcycling is the perfect antidote to homogenised, flat-pack sterility: it's sustainable, it's affordable, it's very, very NOW.

The blog is the brainchild of freelance writer and editor Antonia Edwards and she was kind enough to feature us on the blog a few weeks ago. You can see the nice things that she said about us here.

You really should check it out, but beware, it's all too easy to lose quite a few hours pouring over the posts.
